Welcome to Bayt Sara, a remarkable gem located at 38 Omar Bin Al-Khattab St in Amman, Jordan. This isn’t just any vegan restaurant; it’s a heartwarming haven where food is crafted with love and compassion. As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I’m thrilled to introduce you to a space that embodies both culinary creativity and a noble mission.
At Bayt Sara, the menu is a celebration of plant-based cuisine. Diners rave about the vegan shawarma and burgers, which boast rich flavors that even non-vegans can appreciate. Customer Rihab’s experience highlights the joy of trying something new; she was astounded by the deliciousness of the dishes her vegan friend ordered. It sounds like the chocolate balls stuffed with banana peanut butter were a showstopper, bringing a sweet conclusion to their meal.
Beyond the exceptional food, what sets Bayt Sara apart is the warmth of its hospitality. The owner, Sara, goes above and beyond to make her guests feel at home, from surprising birthday celebrants with treats to offering free tea when someone feels under the weather. This personal touch creates a space where diners leave not just with a full stomach but a happy heart, as noted by customer Saif Hammad.
The ambiance complements the cuisine, described as cozy and adorned with charming cat art. The restaurant also advocates for the well-being of over 180 rescue cats, providing them with a loving home. As mentioned by Hanaan Charrabé, visiting Bayt Sara is not just about indulging in great vegan food, but also about supporting a cause rooted in compassion. The commitment to animal welfare is evident and adds a unique depth to the dining experience.
Another standout feature is the exceptional service. Many patrons, like Haithem El-Zabri, commend the attentiveness of staff members who provide a personal connection that enhances the overall atmosphere. The care taken in every detail—from the thoughtfully curated menu to the inviting environment—truly sets Bayt Sara apart in Amman’s culinary scene.

Thank you, Bayt Sara, for enriching our dining experiences with your beautiful food and inspiring story.
“ I recently dined at Bayt Sara with my friend to celebrate her birthday, and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had. I’m not vegan, but my friend is, and Bayt Sara completely blew me away with their incredible food and warm hospitality. We ordered the vegan shawarma and burger, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The flavors were so rich and satisfying—I couldn’t believe it was all plant-based! For dessert, we tried the chocolate balls stuffed with banana peanut butter, and they were divine. Every bite was a treat! I also had their hot chocolate, and it was *amazing*—so rich, creamy, and comforting. What made the evening even more special was the kindness of the owner. Not only did they surprise my friend with a chocolate bar for her birthday, but they also offered me free tea when they noticed I was coughing. It was such a thoughtful gesture that truly made us feel cared for. The owner also introduced us to their adorable cats and even let me give them treats. It was such a personal and heartwarming touch that made the whole experience feel so unique and welcoming. Bayt Sara isn’t just about amazing food—it’s about the love, care, and hospitality that goes into every detail. I left with a full stomach, a happy heart, and a newfound appreciation for vegan cuisine. Thank you for making my friend’s birthday dinner so memorable. I can’t wait to come back! ”
“ I love this place and make a point to stop by whenever I’m in Amman. Very highly recommend this delightful experience! - Food: Very creative menu items crafted with care and great ingredients! The zinger sandwich is amazing and the homemade labneh was fabulous.. it was only available for takeaway and is discontinued.. I wish a labneh sandwich can be added to the menu! The detox smoothie and kombuchas were great and the chocolate banana peanut butter pudding is outstanding! - Service: Sami (Sara’s brother) is the chef and waiter and his service was super attentive, friendly, and kind. We really enjoyed chatting with him! - Atmosphere: Very cute, cosy space with so much cat art.. we really enjoyed the beautiful ambience and also the cats on the sidewalk! - Mission: While this place isn’t the cheapest, the fact that they take care of 188 cats currently makes it so worth it; they not only feed them but also spay, vaccinate, and treat them like family! ”
“ Really enjoyed the quaint, homey atmosphere. The owner was very charismatic and great to chat with, making the experience even more enjoyable. I visited with two friends and the prices were very reasonable for the shareable portion sizes. The food was 10/10 delicious! Hope to be back in the future! ”
“ As a non-vegan person, I tried vegan food for the first time at Bayt Sara, and it was an amazing experience! The food was delicious, especially the burger - it was incredibly flavorful. The owners were extremely kind and nice, making the place feel cozy, comfortable, and clean. Every meal is clearly made with love. I felt like part of the family, and I'll definitely visit again. Plus, they gave me a free dessert since it's my birthday. Thank you Bayt Sara, for an amazing day ”
“ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Truly special place – amazing food and meaningful purpose I visited Bayt Sara while traveling through Jordan, and it was one of the most memorable stops on my trip. It’s not just a vegan restaurant – it’s a space built on values, compassion, and a real sense of purpose. The food was excellent: fresh, flavorful, and made with care. You can tell everything is thoughtfully prepared, from the menu to the atmosphere. It’s cozy, welcoming, and unlike anything else I experienced in Amman. What really stuck with me is that the founder, Sara, is also taking care of over 180 rescued cats – all out of her own pocket. She receives no support from the government or large organizations and has made this her life’s work. I had the chance to meet her and see some of the animals she cares for, and it left a deep impression on me. If you’re in Amman, I highly recommend stopping by – not just for the great vegan food, but to support a place that’s doing something truly meaningful. ”
“ I honestly have to say this is an amazing place to come to. I enjoyed the food a lot. The vibe was great, I met Samir, Sara and their father and saw a lot of the cats! While being there I felt at home and after I left I was happy to have come there, I didn't have the best day but going there made me feel better. It's not just a place to eat at: they look after stray animals (cats, dogs) and help out people in need! It's all documented on their own social media (ammanhealthsave and baytsara on Instagram). بجد المكان حلو اوي و الناس كويسين جدا بصراحة! ”
“ Go for the shawarma, stay for the cats. This little place is such a must visit, the food is so tasty and the staff are so lovely. We had the Shawarma and the Seitan wrap. Both were so juicy and delicious with really generous portions too. The owners look after around 180 stray cats in Amman and all tips go towards their care. We had a lovely kitty join us for some strokes which was a total bonus to an already great visit. ”
“ I was so happy to discover this place while searching online—it instantly felt like the kind of spot where you’d catch up with old friends. Sammy prepared a delicious vegan shawarma for me, which I’ve really missed since becoming vegetarian (and I’m hoping to make the full transition to vegan one day!). Sara and Sam are incredibly welcoming—it genuinely felt as though I’d reunited with long-lost friends. A lovely find, both for the food and the warm atmosphere. I would highly recommend it! Hope will come back and visit them again soon. ”
